What are the Microsoft Office Web Apps? • Microsoft Office Web Apps are online companions to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote • Enables people to access and do light editing or sharing of Office documents from virtually anywhere • You can access Web Apps from any computer with an internet connection and web browser • You can even access Web Apps via your mobile phone with Office Mobile 2010 installed

  4. What the Microsoft Office Web Apps are NOT… • Not a replacement for Office desktop applications • Not a feature of Office 2010 or SharePoint • Web Apps are a separate download if not using a personal SkyDrive account

  5. Accessing Web Apps via SkyDrive • Target audience: the personal consumer with a home computer • Need to set up a free Windows Live ID to access SkyDrive • Go to: skydrive.live.com • Upload files and then link them in email, social websites or blogs

  6. Accessing Web Apps via SharePoint or Office 365 • Target audience: the business consumer working on a company network • Business consumers purchase licenses through Microsoft’s Volume Licensing program • IT Administrators control the set up and log in procedures for your Web App environment • Upload files and then share them with coworkers or business clients • IT Administrators must allow outside access to share files outside of a company’s network
