Expectations for centers: • Movement: walking quietlywith your hands to yourself. • Talking: Most centers are group work, you should talk quietly to your group members- so that you are not heard across the room. If you are at a teacher center or independent center you will be silent unless directed otherwise. • Time: Keep your eye on the timer and stay on task- you will have limited time at each center.
Center One: Plot Line • Work with your group to label the events/action in the story: Tuesday of the Other June (refer to literature page 468). • Be sure to • Label exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution. • Should be in chronological order. • Make sure you all agree on the climax.
Center Two: Character • Complete the character chart by answering the questions for the main character, June from Tuesday of the Other June. • Write in complete sentences. • Work as a team. • Give as much information about June as possible.
Center Three: Setting • Use words and pictures to describe the setting of Tuesday of the Other June. • Remember setting is the time and the place of the story. The more you can describe the better. • Refer to literature book page 468 for help and details of the story.
Center Four: Theme • Reread the brief article on bullying. • Think about Tuesday of the Other June. • Independently answer in your journal: • What lesson have you learned about bullying? What do you need to do to overcome bullying?
Center Five • Read The Trouble with Bullies page and combine with what you read in previous articles and Tuesday of the Other June. • As a group create an anti-bullying poster that can be displayed in the classroom.
