1. New features Haghofer Wilhelm, Renate Gabriel WF-RepTool day, Amsterdam 10th October 2013

2. Overview • Agent feature • Controller tools • ‘How to find my fractions?’ – ‘Please slim the lists!’ • ‘Keep the orientation in the report’ • Multiple use of reports • Compare reports • WEEE Forum packages • Update on base of WEEE Dir. 2012 / WFD 2008 • Other features

3. Agent feature • Background: contracted partner <> treatment partner • The contracting party (the "Agent") is responsible for the treatment, but may hire sub-contractors in order to do the treatment job • Solution:

4. Controller tools • Background: controller remarks in separated documents • cumbersome to describe / find the location within the report • separated documents get forgotten and / or lost easily • Solution: controller remarks may be given within the WF-RepTool and • are stored directly with the related treatment step, • are clearly marked within the report overview (and many other WF-RepTool screens like “List of reports, etc.) AND • they are copied with the report (!) and therefore immediately at your fingertips one year later example

5. Example controller tool

6. How to find my fractions? – Please slim the lists! • Background: the list of output fractions is quite comprehensive and it needs a deep knowledge of treatment processes to find the accurate fractions • Solution: Review of list of OUTPUT fractions, do ‘smart lists’ • Collect OUTPUT fractions used by WEEE Forum members in their reports (volunteers) • Delete OUTPUT fractions not used / very limited used (2011) • ‘Short lists’ for WEEE Input categories (default) • ‘Material groups’ of OUTPUT fractions (optional) • Sort choice of OUTPUT fractions by ‘Material groups’ (default) example

7. Example find fractions

8. Keepthe orientation in the report • Background: reports might get really voluminous • Solution: • Option to collapse & expand the report overview • Automatic inspection of reports

9. Collapse & expand report overview

10. Automatic inspection of reports

11. Multiple use of reports • Background: reporting on the same input material for different systems • you have to enter the same report on different WF-RepTool installations • Solution: • you may download a report from one installation and upload it to another installation

12. Compare reports • Background: comparing reports is not easy • using multiple browser windows is not a real solution • Solution: have the results of reports side by side with various options • select reports to compare by multiple criteria • filter the content of interest • choose how to compare • select the level of comparison example

13. Choose what to compare

14. Example comparison of results

15. WEEE Forum packages • Background: OUTPUT fractions are handed over to traders, no information on next steps treatment, yields and use of fraction may be gathered • Solution: common packages are available on the WEEE Forum server • at present: power supply cables, motors – large, compressors • those packages may be downloaded in the administration tool • you may decide in general, if those packages may be used within the WF-RepTool or not

16. Update on base of WEEE Dir. 2012 / WFD 2008 • Background: the new WEEE Directive 2012 does not provide own R&R definitions, it refers to Waste Framework Directive 2008 new definitions for ‘recycling’ (reprocessed into product …, not backfilling), ‘backfilling’, ‘other recovery’ • Solution WM: 2nd/new WF model classification • check & update ‚use‘ of fractions/shares as ‚recycling‘ (R) • ‚intermediate‘ classification of OMR (other material recovery)most relevant for: • plastics used as reducing agent (MR  OMR) • metals used as reducing agents, slag not as product (OMR) • glass / mineral fraction not as defined products (OMR) picture def. & rates example

17. Update on base of WEEE Dir. 2012 / WFD 2008 • Solution IT: multiple calculation models • the old and new classification are clearly divided in separate models • each report follows only one definite model to avoid confusion • you may fix the model for new reports in the administration tool • additionally you may decide individually for each report

18. Example new R&R definitions picture def. & rates • WFD 2008: 'recycling' means any recovery operation by which waste materials are reprocessed intoproducts, materials or substances whether for the original or other purposes. It includes the reprocessing of organic material but does not includeenergy recovery and the reprocessing into materials that are to be used as fuels or for backfilling operations; • Commission Decision (2001/753/EU): ‘backfilling’ means a recovery operation where suitable waste is used for reclamation purposes in excavated areas or for engineering purposes in landscaping and where the waste is a substitute for non-waste materials’; • Guidance document on the WFD 2008: ‘Other recovery’ is any operation meeting the definition for ‘recovery’ ... but failing to complywith the specific requirements for preparation for re-use or for recycling, • WEEE Forum Discussion paper ‘Calculation of recycling/recovery results in the framework of Directive 2012/19/2012 on WEEE’ (Sep. 2012)

19. R&R definitions & rates

20. Example new classification

21. Select calculation model

22. Other features • Option to deduct (e.g. for WEEE / other materials wrongly allocated) • De-pollution results (i.e. ‘short’ reports on yield of de-pollution, not up to final fractions) • Self defined report groups • Administrator decisions enlarged • … a lot of “small” improvements making the life easier
