  6. What does CNAP do? • ‘Manages’ Central Computing Budget (£750k + 9SY at CLRC) • Decides Central Computing Policy • Recently - Installed SUN for BaBar • Soon - Decide future of NT Farm • Coordinates interactions with and between other computing resources • JIF/JREI etc • Grid… CNAP

  7. What does CNAP do? • Reviews HEP Computing in UK • White books • Tries to predict future demand • Grant request Form G • PPESP Review of experiments (Reviewing questions) • Advises other HEP Committees • Soon - Advice to Grants Committee on purchase of VC and Linux Servers CNAP

  8. Interaction with Sysman • Topics from Sysman brought to CNAP via Sysman Chairman • e.g.Security • Concerns raised by System Managers • Discussed at CNAP • Raised at PPC and Town Meeting • Letter written to all Group Leaders CNAP

  9. Future of CNAP • At moment Chairman of Grid Steering Committee is a member of CNAP • However as Grid grows - not clear how relationship should develop • Probably CNAP retains advisory role but management of resources moves to new Grid structure • Clearly need to retain contact with users (Sysman and CUF now) CNAP
