Innovative E-tools for Biodiversity Learning: KeyToNature Project

The KeyToNature project, coordinated by Prof. Pier Luigi Nimis, focuses on developing interactive e-tools to enhance biodiversity education. Launched on September 3, 2007, with a budget of 4.8 million euros, this project involves 14 partners from 11 EU countries. It provides access to extensive biodiversity data, including images, descriptions, and ecological information through various formats such as the internet, CDs, and mobile devices. KeyToNature aims to facilitate effective learning and teaching while addressing biodiversity concerns.

  15. Dryades is the Italian branch of KeyToNature

  16. School 1 - The School contacts Dryades-K2N 2 - Dryades-K2N looks for an Expert ready to “adopt” the School

  17. School 3 - The Expert gets in touch with the Teachers and discusses their project 4 - The Expert sends a list of species to Dryades-K2N (e.g.”the plants of the pond”)

  18. 5 - Within 2 days, Dryades-K2N sends to Expert and Teachers: a) a first internet version of the guide b) a first textual version

  19. 6 - Expert + Teachers test the guide and send back to Dryades-K2N their proposals (e.g. change the terminology, etc.) School

  20. 7 - within a week Expert + Teachers (co-authors!) receive the final: 1) internet version 2) CD-Rom version 3) Version for pocket-Pcs and smartphones 4) Textual version OK

  21. The local press: (”look at here! This is a typical flower of the Karst”…)
