  4. Cardinals / Archbishops -were powerful leaders, advisors to kings, controlled all of the churches in a kingdom and cardinals elected the next Pope (The College of Cardinals)

  5. Bishops - Bishops also advised kings, owned land, granted fiefs and today are in charge of all of the churches in a diocese (religious region) Bishop George Coleman – Bishop of the Fall River Diocese

  6. Priests – priests were in charge of a single church and provided spiritual guidance. Through priests most people of the Middle Ages accessed God

  7. Monks and Nuns– Monks and Nuns spent their time doing manual labor, rewriting ancient texts, caring for the sick and poor, running schools and spreading Catholicism through missionary work.
