  3. Non-user projects • Non-user surveys • High proportion of humanities students • Aiming to design our approach to appeal more to these students • 2 day event with prizes • Themed weeks this year and listening campaign

  4. DLHE • Collected via post, phone and email for HESA • Two collections: • Completion 1 Aug - 31 Dec 2008 (census date 20 April 2009) • Completion 1 Jan - 31 July 2009 (census date 11 Jan 2010) • Historically hard-copy summaries handed to departments • Now have DLHE Interactive! • League Tables

A Career in Ruins Event – Institute of Archaeology Aim of event was to: • provide archaeology students with a broad range of ideas for future careers • provide information about routes in to different career areas and how to gain relevant experience • help students understand the value of their archaeology degree and the transferable skills gained • provide information about post-graduate study

Speakers shared their own career experiences/career path and provided information about the opportunities available in their area of work • Careers for archaeologists – overview • Careers in conservation • Careers in museums • Commercial archaeology • Graduate studies • Academic archaeology • Outreach/public archaeology work • Transferable skills • From Archaeology to Business – using your archaeology degree

  13. History of Art - challenges • Lots of different areas • No obvious graduate employment route • Passion for art not always easy to match onto a specific job • Often need work related skills as well as the interest in art • Can be difficult to get paid work at the start

  17. Careers Support for Language Students – Work Placements The UCL Careers Service provides a number of services for students considering or preparing for a yearabroad work placement. Services include: • Signposting to sources of work placements • One-to-one sessions • Providing help and advice on work placement issues • Blog
