  1. Alternative Spring Break Second General Body Meeting Spring 2014

  2. Agenda for the meeting: • Winter trip presentations • Overview of application process • General Q & A session

Step 1: Check out the website for Powerpoints on each trip! • Go to www.asb-uic.org • Put mouse over “Get Involved” • Click on Trips • Select Spring 2014 • Review the trips to get a good sense of what you are interested in! You will be asked to rank the trips from most preferred (#1) to least preferred (#9). • We want to make sure we place people on trips where they will be able to have a positive influence on the ASB experience!

  4. Step 2: Fill out the application online! • On that same page, click on “Apply Here!” • You will be asked general information about yourself (Major, contact info, etc.) • There will be a few questions that will let us know a little bit about your personality!  • You are more likely to be placed on your first/second choice if you are an official member or a member in progress…BUT, it is not required! • Only requirement is to be a UIC student (Undergrad or Grad) • Each trip will cost $150 (includes housing, van rental, gas costs, and food for the week!)

  5. Step 3: Print out the application and bring it to our office! • We need a paper-copy of your application in order to sort out the applicants for each trip (the online version is a back-up) • Put your application in the folder on the window of our office labeled “ASB” (if you do not see a folderfor some reason, slide it under the door!) • The ASB office is located in room 472 SCE. (Take the elevator next to Sbarro’s, up to the 3rd floor, walk into campus programs and all the way to the end of the hall. Then, take stairs up to 4th floor. The office is the first one on your left.)

  6. Step 4: Sign up for an interview! • There will be a spreadsheet taped to the ASB office door where you will pick an interview time and write your name! • You will be interviewed by the ASB E-board members • Interviews last about 10-15 minutes • They help us get to know you a little better! • After the interview, wait for an email to hear whether you were accepted or not! Good Luck!! 

  7. Trip Waiver Available!!! • Thanks to all the efforts the ASB board and the general members made while fundraising, ASB is able to offer a full trip waiver this semester! :D • There will be a separate application for this waiver. We will ask you some long-response questions and the activities you have done with ASB this academic year so far. • Application opens: March 3rd • Application deadline: March 7th at 11:59pm • The process for submitting this application is the same as the general trip application (submit the online copy AND a paper copy).

  8. *** DEADLINES *** • February 28th: Applications due at 11:59pm!!! • March 3rd – March 7th : Interview week/Waiver app. • March 8th/9th: Accepted or Declined Email • March 10th or 11th (TBA): Site Leader meeting • March 12th : Meet your group day/Make payment • March 17th – 21st : week before break (final details) • March 23rd: Trips leave – off on an adventure! 
