Three girls went out in white, green and blue dresses. Their shoes were also one of these three colors. (Each wore a pair of matched shoes!) Only Anna had the same color dress as shoes. Neither Betty nor her shoes were white, and Katie’s shoes were green. What were the color of each girl’s dress?.

Solution #5 Since Katie’s shoes were green, her dress was not. And since Katie’s shoes were green, Anna’s shoes were not. So the green dress must belong to Betty. What color are her shoes? They can’t be white, and they can’t be green. So Betty’s shoes must be blue. Then Anna is wearing the white shoes and therefore also the white dress. The blue dress is left for Katie.
