OBJECTIVES In line with the 9th Malaysia Plan • To expose students to the 'real' working environment and get acquainted with the organization structure, business operations and administrative functions. • To have hands-on experience in the students’ related field so that they can relate and reinforce what has been taught at the university.

  6. OBJECTIVES In line with the 9th Malaysia Plan • To foster cooperation and to develop synergetic collaboration between industry and the university in promoting a knowledge economy. • To set the stage for future recruitment by potential employers.

  7. Requirement of BIT3024/34 BIT3034/3024 is the ONLY ONE subject that can be taken for Trimester 3, 2013/2014 for all BBA and BBKM Gamma students

Industrial Training Program Industrial training for 12 weeks Commencing date: 24th Feb until 18th May 2014 Latest attachment date – 3rd Mac 2014 Nature of jobs must be related to the areas of business/specialization. Once placed: Withdrawal is not allowed Subject to the respective Company’s Rules and Regulation FOB students are MMU Ambassador in the industries

Industrial Training Program • Industrial training for 15 weeks • Commencing date: 24th Feb until 07th June 2014 • Latest attachment date – 24th Feb 2014 • Nature of jobs must be related to the areas of business/specialization. • Once placed: • Withdrawal is not allowed • Subject to the respective Company’s Rules and Regulation • FOB students are MMU Ambassador in the industries

Placement Locations • Company: Student’s own choice • Any company located in Malaysia (including Sabah and Sarawak) and in other countries (subject to terms and conditions) • For international students: • Allowed to apply for company in your home country/ other countries(subject to terms and conditions) • Verification on the company will be made by FOB

  11. PROCEDURES • Call up the company first before sending out the application letters. • Find out whether there is a vacancy for industrial trainees. • If the company has vacancies, you have to ask for the person in charge. The person in charge may be from the HR department, training department, or any other departments of the company.

  12. PROCEDURES • Try to get the name of the person so that you can address the letter to the person in charge correctly in your application letter. • Letter without complete information (either information about you yourself or the company) may result in not getting any reply from the company.

PROCEDURES • Choose a company • Fill up the four (4) documents (refer to FOB websites on BIT3034). • Please do not submit the application forms to the company without following the procedures. • Your documents will be checked and recorded by Ms. Mas Noorhayati/ Asma and Mr. Ng Tuan Hock • Marks will be deducted when irregularities are found during the application stage as well as during the training period.

PROCEDURES • Refer to Flow chart • Send the 4 documents to the company directly. • Wait for the company’s response. • If you don’t get a response from the company within about 2 weeks or so, give them a call and enquire on your application status. Don’t wait until the last minute! It is your responsibility to contact and follow-up with the company of your choice.

PROCEDURES • Pre Placement Registration Documents: • (a) Confirmation of Student Status Letter • (b) Cover Letter • (c) Application Form • (d) Company Confirmation Letter • Academic Transcript (The Online Version is sufficient) • Placement Registration • Please register the subject (BIT3034 or BIT3024) as usual during the course registration weeks

GRADING: PASS or FAIL The training is graded based on: • Student’s monthly reports : 20% • Student’s Final Report : 40% • Lecturer's Evaluation During Industrial Visit : 20% • Employer's Evaluation : 20% • Total 100% The student is given FAIL grade, if • <10% of employer evaluation; • <10% of lecturer’s evaluation; or • <50% of total marks FAIL: re-take BIT3024/34

  17. DEDUCTIONS OF MARKS • Marks to be deducted on the following issues: • when the student obtains more than one company’s offer and fail to inform the company whose offer he/she decides to reject; • asking for a change of company after the offer is confirmed; • or not adhering to the planned schedule.

  18. LEAVE OF ABSENCE • If a student quits the program after its commencement, • NOT ALLOWED to register for any subjects offered in Tri 3, 2013/2014; • He/she has to apply for “Leave of Absence” for that trimester, subject to the Dean’s approval; • Appeal will be looked into on case by case basis

  19. Letter of Indemnity • A promise of payment in case of any damage /loss • MMU DOES NOT issue Letter of Indemnity to any company • DO NOT accept any offer for a trainee post that requires a letter of indemnity from MMU

Application for Oversea Internship • Students need to ensure that the company is genuine and valid. • Call/ send the company an e-mail to enquire about internship opportunities. • A corresponding e-mail between the applicant and the company is needed (preferably) before the application form is submitted to the faculty for authentication. • Faculty will cross check the documents and company identity. • Once verification is complete, the students may continue the application process, i.e. send out the formal letter.

  21. Important Notes • Ensure your own safety and health while having an international internship. • Students are expected to report any suspicion to the Faculty immediately. • No illegal activities is allowed at all. • The Faculty and the University holds no responsibility over activities during oversea training. • Working permit/ Visa arrangement is between the student and the employer. MMU nor the faculty will not make further arrangement. • Students are expected to know all of the do and don’ts of the host country and shall avoid any prohibitions/violations.
