  4. iPhone App • Photographers can publish their images as soon as a story breaks, from their mobile phones. • Photographers can view assignments that they can respond to.

  5. Training and outreach • Partnership with PhotoVoice • Nine training workshops in England and Scotland for local photographers. • Provided opportunity to encourage sign ups and explain how the platform works.

  6. Photo Competition • Partnership with Big Lottery Fund Northcliffe Digital (Local World and Localpeople) • Two categories: (1) Inspiring images of community life, (2) photos of projects supported by Big Lottery Fund. • Competition set as an assignment that photographers could respond to.

  7. Lessons learnt • Importance of legal support when developing innovative new technology and breaking new ground. • Ensure generous time allocation for development of web app and phone app. • Dedicated roles needed to develop and nurture communities that use the platform.
