Regrouping (carrying) with Mixed Numbers • This happens in addition when the two fractions add up to more than one. • We have to regroup in subtraction because the top number fractional part is smaller than the bottom number fractional part. • In addition we have to regroup in the Simplify step. • In subtraction we have to regroup in the Alter step. • We can still use LAPS to solve the problem.
