Prayer of Repentance

In this heartfelt prayer, we acknowledge our role as stewards of God's creation and confess our failures in caring for the environment. We recognize the consequences of our actions—global climate disruption and crises resulting from our rebellion against divine will. We seek forgiveness for our sins and ask for a renewal of our hearts, empowering us to act in accordance with God's purpose for the earth. Our plea is for transformation, that we may honor Creation and promote the well-being of all. Amen.

  2. O Lord, sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things. In your kindness and love, you have given humanity rule and stewardship over your creation, to live as your image-bearers in a world you created for your delight. But we have turned from your will, often abusing Creation for greedy and selfish purposes.

  3. Now we are facing global climate disruption and other crises as a result of our rebellion. Forgive us of our sins, and the sins of our society, which have increasingly degraded what you created for good. In your kindness, lead us to repentance.

  4. Create in us a clean heart, ready and willing to carry out your will on earth as it is in heaven. For the glory of your name and for the benefit of all humanity and Creation. Amen.
