  3. Economic Mexico is highly dependent on exports to the U.S., which represent more than a quarter of the country's GDP. The result is that the Mexican economy is strongly linked to the U.S. business cycle, and has suffered from the economic slowdown in the United States. Mexico has one of the largest economies in the world holding the twelfth position in the global list The Mexican economy underwent a tough phase in 1994. Since then, the country's administration has tried its best to bring about amendments in the country's macroeconomic situation.

  4. Politics The death of one-party rule in Mexico promised a new era of cleaner elections. Marco Gómez, a member of the governing board of Mexico's Federal Electoral Institute, which enforces campaign law and tabulates results, said he did not believe the vote-buying schemes could sway the election. The decision making center is the executive branch headed by the president. Government policies, taxes etc are controlled by the executive branch. The president is both the chief of state and the head of government and is elected by popular vote every six years without a chance of reelection.

  5. Society and Culture September 16: Mexican Independence Daycelebrates the day that Miguel Hidalgo delivered El Grito de Dolores, and announced the Mexican revolt against Spanish rule. Mexicans make several cultural subdivisions within the nation. The most common one identifies northern, central, and south or south-eastern Mexico.

  6. Environment Mexico has an enormous range of natural environments.  It bridges temperate and tropical regions and lies in the latitudes that hold most of the world’s deserts.  Mexico's most widespread environmental problems is soil erosion; slash-and-burn agricultural practices, especially in the tropical zones, have also contributed to deforestation. Mexico City, located more than 2,250 m (7,400 ft) above sea level and surrounded by mountains, has chronic smog, aggravated by the presence in the metropolitan region of thousands of factories, more than two million motor vehicles.
