  3. 2004 Annual NAFSA Conference FBIE-SIG Presentation FBIE-SIG: AN OVERVIEW Supporting FBIE’s career advancement in various venues of international education (i.e. not just CAFSS) and thinking openly about ways we can impact international students and/or international education • Through mentoring program for FBIEs • Through regional and state level sessions on various career paths we have entered and grown Identifying, promoting, and utilizing FBIE strengths and advantages that advance the state of international education • Identify FBIE advantages in each of the functional areas • Demonstrate these advantages through research, survey, and/or projects • Market these advantages through sessions in Seattle and through FBIEs in NAFSA leadership positions www.isp.msu.edu/oiss/fbie

  5. 2004 Annual NAFSA Conference FBIE-SIG Presentation JOIN THE SIG LEADERSHIP (04-05) • Term ends June 30, 2005 • Coordinator-elect-elect is elected by members in June 05 • Remaining officer positions for July 1, 2005-June 30, 06 will be nominated by members and appointed by SIG Coordinator. • Submit nomination to SIG Coordinator via e-mail by June 15. www.isp.msu.edu/oiss/fbie

  6. 2004 Annual NAFSA Conference FBIE-SIG Presentation FBIE COMMITTEES Advocacy & Member Survey Committee This committee develops, implements membership surveys and publishes an annual report. In addition, as member surveys identify key FBIE-related highlights and/or issues, the committee will carry out the advocacy effort to NAFSA leadership. Member Outreach Committee Member Outreach Committee recruits new members and organize social events during a NAFSA National Conference. Mentoring Program Committee This committee designs, promotes, and facilitates FBIE Mentoring Program at the national conference during the Open SIG meeting. www.isp.msu.edu/oiss/fbie

  7. 2004 Annual NAFSA Conference FBIE-SIG Presentation FBIE COMMITTEES Program Committee This committee generates program ideas and solicits session proposals for NAFSA regional and national conferences. Committee members are encouraged to organize and facilitate FBIE-SIG open meetings at their respective regional conference. Publicity & Communications Committee The committee develops an overall promotional strategy for the SIG. This committee also develops newsletter, pamphlets or booklets to be disseminated via print and electronic media. Regional Chairs Regional chairs coordinate SIG promotional activities, SIG meeting, and/or social activities at regional conferences in promoting SIG’s mission at regional level. www.isp.msu.edu/oiss/fbie
