  2. 1. Read Directions!!! • Always read the directions carefully before beginning a lab. Never assume you know what to do!!!!!

  3. 2. Watch hair/jewelry/sleeves • Tie back long hair, remove dangling jewelry, push up loose sleeves. No baggie clothing or open toed shoes.

  4. 3. Only bring lab notebooks/pencil • Only bring notebook and pencil to lab. No bags!!

  5. 4. No horseplay • Do not speak loudly or engage in horseplay in lab. Treat it like any other classroom

  6. 5. Stay Put!!!! Do NOT wander around! • Stay at your assigned lab table. DO NOT wander around the room.

  7. 6. Danger!! Never touch, taste or smell any substance! • Assume that all chemicals are dangerous and toxic. Do not leave containers open and NEVER touch, taste or directly smell any substance!!!

  8. 7. More danger!! No mixing of substances. • Do not mix chemicals or use the same utensils in different chemicals unless permitted to do otherwise.

  9. 8. Pay attention!!! • Be aware of your surroundings when using heating plates or an open flame.

  10. 9. Report all accidents immediately! Report all accidents immediately!! Never clean up a chemical spill or pick up broken glass.

  11. 10. No Eating or Drinking • Never eat or drink anything used in lab…don’t even ask……

  12. 11. Clean-up your area!!!! • Clean up!!! Never return unused chemicals to the original container unless permitted to do so. Wash out all glassware. Straighten up equipment so it looks the same as when you entered. Wash table top and throw trash in appropriate container!!!
