  2. Religions and Culture A big part of Egypt religion is Islamic. The Muslims there account for 80% to 90% of the total population. Most Muslims there are Sunni, the Shia’s are only a few thousands in count. The Christians in Egypt total to about 10% to 20% in the population. Family is most important in Egypt. When a man makes a promise it’s a bond and if he breaks the promise it brings dishonor to his family.

  3. Economy & History • Egypt is a market economy and has a republican government. Their GDP was estimated at a whopping $188 billion in 2009. Some ( not all ) natural resources include iron ore, petroleum and zinc. They specialize in agriculture, food processing, aluminum, cement, and more. They gained their independence on February 28, 1922 from British rule and got their constitution in 1971. The constitution was adopted on September 11.

  4. Geography & Weather • Egypt is one big desert, except for the Nile river and its delta of course. They have moderate winters and hot, dry summers. Egypt is 1,001,450 sq. km or New Mexico and Texas combined.
