Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. 10 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. 11 And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?   5. Am I A Good Steward? • Are you cultivating what God has entrusted to you. Genesis 2:15 • Do realize that all you have belongs to God? Deuteronomy 10:14; 1 Chronicles 29:11; Psalms 50:10-12 • Are increasing what God has entrusted you with or are you spending it foolishly and have nothing to show for it? Matthew 25:14-30 • Are you taking care of Jesus’ bride with the portion He has required you to give? • Do you know who your master is? Matthew 6:24

  6. IS DEBT A SIN? • What the bible says about debt. • Proverbs 22:17 - The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender. • God wants us to lend to others. For the Lord your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you. Deuteronomy 15:6 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. Deuteronomy 28:12

  7. IS DEBT A SIN? • What the bible says about debt. • Proverbs 22:17 - The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender. • God wants us to lend to others. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Matthew 5:42

Deuteronomy 15:6; 28:12; Matthew 5:42 • We are required to pay back what we borrowed. The wicked borrows and does not repay, But the righteous shows mercy and gives. Psalms 37:21 When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it;For He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed— Ecclesiastes 5:4

  9. IS DEBT A SIN? • What the bible does not say about debt. • That it is a sin to be in debt. • There are no instances where God provides through a loan.

  10. Causes of Financial Problems • No Vision Plan for your money. • Unemployment or job loss • Expensive Emergencies • Poor decision making on how money should be spent. • Lack of Communication • No Savings or Investments for retirement

  11. DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE?

  12. You must assess where you are? • Do you know what your actual checkbook balance is? • Do you know what debts you have and when they are due? • Do you know how much spendable income you have? • Do you know what your average daily, weekly and monthly spending habits are?

Creating a Vision Plan (Budget) • Why create a budget? • The bible says that without a vision the people perish. • The bible says no one builds a house and does not consider the cost. • A Budget helps you spend intentionally and not wrecklessly. • When you have a vision for your money you will find you have more to work with.

Creating a Vision Plan (Budget) • Step 1 – Assessing your current spending habits and income. • Step 2 – Listing all the debts you owe • Step 3 – Creating a Financial Snapshop • Step 4 – Based on what you see in your snapshot determine where you are overspending. • Make plans for the 10/10/80 principle. • 10% Tithes • 10% Savings • 80% For Bills and Expenses • Step 5 – Create an action plan for cutting unnecessary expenses.
