  1. Welcome to Mrs.Varner’s Class Health “It’s not how much or what you know, it’s what you do with what you know.”

  2. A little bit about me: • Graduated from PHS • Graduated from UAB (Health and History Education with a concentration in Sports Medicine) • 13th year teaching (12th at PHS) • 1st year teaching Health at PHS • Married with 2 boys

  3. A look around the room

  4. Class Routine • Students come in class and take any item that is on the bench in the front of the room. • Turn in any work from the day before on the podium. • Students complete bell ringer that is normally on the projector. • Complete class assignment. • Normally notes, activity, and/or video. • Mrs. Varner dismisses class when bell rings.

  5. Make-up work • Make-up work is the student’s responsibility • How can my child find out what is missed? • Calendar • Website • Ask a friend • Students must schedule a time to make up tests (normally during AO period) • I give until the end of the 9 weeks to complete any make up test

  6. Assignments • Vocabulary • Word Walls • Tests • Current Events • Projects • Bellringers

  7. Materials students need to bring to class: • Something to take notes in • Bellringer notebook • Writing utensils

  8. Wish List • Tape • Staples • Computer Paper • Post-its • Paper Clips • Hand Sanitizer • Paper Towels • Kleenex • Dry-Erase Markers • Pens (all colors)
