Starter • Now watch the video clip again and use it to answer the questions or fill in the blanks. • The human body is made up of…………….. • Similar cells make up an ………………………. • …………….. working together make up a system • What action sends food to the stomach? • Which system turns pizza into usable energy for the body? • How many major systems are there? • Which organ sucks in air? • How long is the small intestine? • Which system does the brain belong to?

  7. In our first lesson under this broad topic we will be learning about the body organs; their position within the body and their function.

Objectives By the time you have gone through this lesson I would like you to … • Know some of the major organs of the body which will place you on level 4C • Know most of the major organs of the body and place them in the right position in the body which will place you on Level 4B • Know all the major organs of the body, place them in the right position within the body and describe its function this will place you on level 4A

  10. Why are we leaning this….. • We are learning this so we can recognise some of the important organs in our body; know where they are positioned and what they help the body with. Know some of the major organs of the body which will place you on level 4C Know most of the major organs of the body and place them in the right position in the body which will place you on Level 4B Know all the major organs of the body, place them in the right position within the body and describe its function this will place you on level 4A

  11. Success Criteria I will be able to identify some of the major organs of the body. • Objective 1 : To know the major organs of the body.. Level 4C Look at the human body image on the next slide, pay particular attention to the position and appearance of the organs shown. See if you can recognise any of the ones not labelled.

ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS USING THE DIAGRAM ON THE PREVIOUS SLIDE • What did you notice about the position of the stomach? • Do you remember which bones protect the Lungs? • Do you know the bone that protects the brain? • From the video clip at the beginning of the of the lesson, what is the function of the organs labelled? • Write your answer to these questions on a word document and send it to me by e- mail • Complete the work sheet on the next slide and e- mail it to me also. • If you cannot copy the worksheet.
