  2. Good Afternoon! Today is Friday, April 6th, 2012. Last week we learned the word ‘blend,’ and looked at the vowel sounds of English. We learned the long vowel sounds and the short vowel sounds. Today we are going to review the long and short vowel sounds, and we are going to blend consonant sounds, too!

  3. Blend sounds b /b/ a /æ/ ba /bæ/

  4. Vowels are different because they make more than one sound

  5. The vowel letters are: A a, E e, ɪi, O o, U u

  6. The consonant letters are: B b, C c, D d, F f, G g, H h, J j, K k, L l, M m, N n, P p, Q q, R r, S s, T t, V v, W w, X x, Y y, Z z

  7. Blending consonants: 1. bend gust • The sound of ‘ck’ /k/ back • The sound of ‘sh’ /š/ dish • The two sounds of ‘th’ this /ð/ - hard sound thick /θ/ - soft sound
