  2. Test Plan June 16th – Reading Grades 3-5 June 17th – Math Grades 3-5 June 18th – Science and Extend 2 Science (Grade 5 only) June 19th – Extend 2 Reading Grades 3-5 June 20th – Extend 2 Math Grades 3-5

  3. Testing Times Testing begins at 9:15 am Please have your child in school by 9:00 am No one can enter the testing rooms after the tests have begun. Late students will have to wait in the office until testing is finished and take the test on a make-up day.

  4. Changes for Testing Days No interruptions are allowed in any testing room NO CELL PHONES or any other electronic devices are allowed in testing rooms! If your child has one, keep it at home on testing days.

  5. Absences Please do not send your child to school on a testing day if he/she does not feel well. If a child is absent on a testing day, they will take the missed test on June 18th, 19th, 20th, or 23rd as needed.

  6. Other Information School personnel and volunteer proctors are not allowed to disclose or discuss contents of EOG tests! Please do not ask them about the questions on the test.

  7. EOG Reading Test 52 Multiple Choice Questions with 4 answer choices Reading Texts: -Literature – stories and poems -Informational – scientific, historical, economic, technical Passages of various lengths

  8. EOG Math Test 54 Questions with 4 answer choices Calculator inactive portion is first (27 multiple choice questions) -Grade 5: 8 of the 27 questions are “gridded response” questions – open-ended, not multiple choice Calculator Active portion is last (27 multiple choice questions)

  11. Extend 2 Versions Only for those students who have Extend 2 in their IEP’s Same Grade Level Content Same format 3 answer choices instead of 4

Released 2012-13 Test Items Math: - Each answer gives the Common Core Domain -Grade 5 has both multiple choice and gridded response questions Reading: -Selection is followed by several questions -Each answer gives the Primary Standard from the new Common Core Standards Science: -Each answer gives Unifying Concept

  14. Student Scores Achievement Level Scores (Level I-V) approved by the State Board of Education will be sent home at the end of the year. An explanation of the new levels will be sent with the scores Parent Reports provided by the State will NOT be ready before the end of the year. They will be mailed to parents sometime in July.

  15. Recognizing Stress in Children ~Children may display stress very differently than an adult does. Often children’s stress is internalized and is most noticeable in physical symptoms, such as frequent flu-like symptoms including headache, stomachache, and even nausea, or behavioral symptoms, like listlessness or acting out.

  19. Tips to Prepare for Test Days Encourage your child to use the test taking tips the teachers have shared. 2. Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep. 3. Provide them with a healthy breakfast. 4. Talk with them about any anxieties they may be experiencing. 5. Make sure they arrive at school on time. Tests will begin promptly at 9:15 am. Do not schedule any appointments for the days of the tests. Testing can last until after 1:30 in some situations. Smile and give your child a hug!
