Athletic Packets • Athletic packets must be filled out before an athlete can compete in any sport at Coronado High School • Athletic Packets: • Completed once a year (if you completed one for another sport this year, you do NOT need to complete another one) • $20 • Cash or check (made out to ____________________) • Can be purchased TONIGHT! • Must be approved by Coach Bolken (girls) or Poleski (boys) before an athlete can participate in intramurals • Final due date for athletic packets: • February 14, 2014

  5. Intramurals • Intramurals schedule based on event • Calendar can be found on the CHS T&F website • Throws: December 4, M, Th, F • Sprints: January 6, M-Th • Hurdles: TBD • Jumps: TBD • Distance: TBD • Pole Vault: TBD

  6. Expectations Page • Every student-athlete & their parent(s) must sign & return a track & field expectations form • It answers & details many different parts of our team, including: • Practice time & schedule • Policies on tardies& absences • Other information, including our website • Copies of the expectations sheet are available at the back of the room

  7. Practices • 1st Day of Practice • Saturday March 1st • Mandatory • Practices are mandatory, M-F, including two Saturday practices (March 1st& 8th) • Practices run begin at 2:45 and run until approximately 4:30 pm • Times will vary depending on event • Students must have 10 practices before they are issued a uniform (cannot compete without 10 practices) • Uniform distribution: • Wednesday, March 12 • Team Pictures: • Thursday, March 13 • Newcomers Meet: • Friday, March 14

  8. Fundraising • Each student is responsible for raising $75 for the team • These funds go toward: • Uniforms • Transportation • Meet entry fees • T-shirts • Equipment • Banquet (which is provided for the athletes) • We will take fundraising donations (toward your child’s $75) tonight after the meeting • Cash or check (made payable to Coronado High School) • Checks must have student’s name & ID number in the “Memo”

Types of Meets • Dual/Tri meets: meets between two or three schools • 2013 Boys & Girls teams were SE Division Champs • Both were 6-0 in Dual/Tri meets • Invitational meets: meets between multiple schools • 10 – 55 teams, depending on the meet • Generally top 2 or 3 athletes per event • Varies based on the meet • Regional meet: meet between all schools in our region (Sunrise) • Must qualify • 4 athletes max (regardless of qualification); 1 athlete min • State meet: meet between all D1 schools in the state • Must place top 2-3 (depending on event) at regional meet

Home Meets • CHS hosts between 2-3 meets at Coronado HS each season • This season our meets are on: • Wednesday, March 26th @ 3:30 pm (vs.Foothill) • Tuesday, April 22nd @ 3:30 pm (vs. Liberty) • We need volunteers to run events, help mark/measure, run concessions at our home meets • Volunteers will still be able to watch their athlete compete • We ask each parent to sign up for 1 home meet • Sign-up sheets are available at the end of the meeting • Sign-up sheets are divided into events & concessions for your convenience • EVERY ATHLETE MUST STAY FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF HOME TRACK MEETS

Schedule • Newcomers Meet, Friday 3/14 @ Green Valley (3:30) • Tuesday 3/18 @ Basic (3:30) • Heitkotter Invitational, Saturday 3/22 @ Faith Lutheran (Time: TBA) • Wednesday 3/26 @ Coronado (3:30) • Covina Invitational, Saturday 3/29 @ Covina, CA (More info on next slide) • Skyhawk Invitational, Saturday 4/5 @ Silverado (Time: TBA; No bus) • Tuesday 4/8 @ Del Sol (3:30) • Ron Resler Invitational, Friday 4/11 @ Boulder City HS (Time: TBA) • SPRING BREAK: April 14-18 • Tuesday 4/22 @ Coronado (3:30) • Frosh-Soph Championships, Friday 5/2 @ Green Valley (Time: TBA) • Regional Championships, Saturday 5/10 @ TBA • Regional Championships, Saturday 5/17 @ TBA • NIAA State Championships, Friday & Saturday 5/23-24 @ Carson HS (Carson, NV; Time: TBA; Plans: TBD)

  13. Lettering Requirements • All lettering requirements can be found on the CHS T&F website • The lettering requirement that most athletes meet is: • Points Scored • An athlete must score 15 points over the course of a season • Regional Qualifier • If an athlete qualifies for regionals, they receive an automatic letter

  14. Banquet • The banquet • Wednesday, May 21st • 3:00 – 5:30 pm • Cafeteria • Certificates are awarded to each athlete • Event & team awards are awarded by the event coaches • Every athlete’s banquet is included in their fundraising • Parents, siblings, family members, friends are a $10 fee
