Understanding Spatial Agreement in ASL for Effective Communication

This guide explains the concept of spatial agreement in American Sign Language (ASL) when referring to individuals and actions. By using body shifts and directional signs, you can effectively illustrate relationships and locations. Key principles include starting on the right for the first person and shifting left for a second person, using pointing and glancing to indicate who you’re discussing. With practical examples, like comparing family members and activities, you will enhance your ASL proficiency and avoid common mistakes in communication.
