You are a College student! you have been officially registered at Algonquin College the student number that you have been assigned is YOUR student number for the rest of your time at this College the marks earned in your Dual Credit course will not be considered for future admission to a full time program here but will count towards your GPA.

Get ready for class checklist Before your first day of class you should: have attended Orientation received your timetable know what time and date your class is scheduled know where your class is meet with your Dual Credit support teacher have picked up your textbook/course materials have decided on a transportation method and picked up parking or bus tickets, if needed

  6. Get ready for class checklist The following are things that should be done by the first day of class or soon after…. pick your student ID Have logged into ACSIS, Blackboard and live@ac get registered with CSD if you need accommodations

Getting to the College Dual Credit students may be eligible for one of the following forms of transportation funding: Public Transportation: • Bus tickets are available to students for travel to class if no bus pass is provided by high school • Tickets can be picked-up in J213 • Lost bus tickets cannot be replaced by Academic Partnerships Office and it would therefore be the responsibility of the student to cover this cost

Getting to the College Personal Vehicle: • Free in lots 8, 9, or 12 after 5pm (today 4:30pm so do not worry) • If arriving before 5pm – park in the Visitor’s lot • 1 parking pass per class • Pick up passes monthly in J213 • Passes do not allow for in and out privileges in the Visitors Parking Lot • Lost parking passes cannot be replaced by Academic Partnerships Office and it would therefore be the responsibility of the student to cover this cost

  12. Picking up Course Materials Connections store pickup window - beside H110 (near the Marketplace Food Court). Textbooks will be held for the first two weeks of classes only. Store Hours: Weekdays 8am-7pm Can’t find the pick up window? Pick up window closed but Connections store open? ASK A CONNECTIONS EMPLOYEE IN THE MAIN STORE FOR HELP Bring: Photo-id and Timetable Additional materials? Incorrect materials? Please come see Operations Officer in J213 or email dualcredit@algoquincollege.com

Picking up Course Materials – additional notes • Trades Exploration – SAFETY BOOTS THE FIRST DAY!!! • Purchase and we will reimburse up to $100, bring original receipt to J213 • Creative Thinking for Graphic Design: • Materials list will be given out first day of class • Purchase and we will reimburse, bring original receipts to J213 • Quantity Food Production • Non-slip black shoes • Purchase and we will reimburse, bring original receipts to J213 • Your uniforms and kits will be delivered to class • You do have a textbook to pick up

  14. Obtaining your Student ID Go to Card Services office, C044a (Hours: 8am-4pmMon-Fri, closed 12-1pm)with identification and timetableOR send photo & details by email. E-mail your first and last name, student number and digital photo to:  photoid@algonquincollege.com and then pick up your card with proper identification at your convenience.

Obtaining your Student ID Digital Photograph Requirements: Background must be uniformly white or light in colour Face must be clearly visible and applicant facing the camera Photograph must be in colour Applicant must be the only person in the picture Must be in .jpeg format Nothing can impede the view of the face (hats, sunglasses, gestures)

College Technology Intro session will be held during one of your first classes, there is a class set of laptops in A219 that can be used if you do not have one If you need help with technology: Computer Coaching (Blackboard, email, ACSIS, etc.)is available in the Learning Resource Centre (Library), in C205. Drop by to make an appointment. The ITS Helpdesk is found in the C102, the Mobile Learning Centre with staff ready to help with any technology (software, hardware issues). Or email 5555@algonquincollege.com Computer Access Centers are open 24 hours every day to all students in rooms B373, C102 (Mobile Learning Centre), C336 and T201.

  18. Course Related Field Trips With regards to course-related field trips, Dual Credit students are required to notify their Dual Credit Support Teacher and High School Guidance Department in order to complete the appropriate High School permission forms. 

  19. Withdrawals Steps: • Make an appointment with your Guidance Counselor and Dual Credit Support Teacher to discuss your decision and to understand the consequences of a withdrawal • Once discussion has occurred, if you have decided to withdraw, your high school Guidance Counselor must send an email to dualcredit@algonquincollege.com to confirm your withdrawal • Be aware of the deadline(s) to withdraw without academic penalty (found on your Student Timetable) • If it is after deadline to withdraw, then a grade of ‘F’ will appear on your College transcript; this WILL count towards your GPA at Algonquin College in future programs

  20. Completing your Course • Approximately one month after your last day of class, a copy of your term grade report will be sent to the Principal at your High School to be filed in your OSR • The College letter grade will be converted to a percentage and will show up on your report card with a linked High School code (except for team taught courses) • You can also print a grade report from ACSIS by logging in after the grades release date

Completing your Course • internal transfer of credit http://www2.algonquincollege.com/directives/policy/transfer-of-academic-credit-internal/. • If a course has not been previously declared equivalent for internal credit transfer, a request in writing to the Course Academic Administrator can be sent for the course to be reviewed • Please use the form found via http://www.algonquincollege.com/RegistrarsOffice/forms/forms.htm • If you go to another College – check with their Registrar what the process is for transfer of external credits. You will need your official College Course Outline posted on Blackboard at the start of your course, proof of completion (term grade report), and/or an official Algonquin College transcript
