Established business man Art Davie metRorion Gracie in 1991- together they had an idea to have a tourney to decide the best mix martial art. 28 investors bought into the first Tournament called War Of The Worlds. 1993 UFC was brought to the next level, when major investors SEG got involved and brought in promoters and formed their trade mark octagon. May 1993 UFC’s first televised event took place, this was an instant success bring 86,662 pay per views. In 2001 SEG was going bankrupt, thus looking to sell the UFC brand name. 2001 Dana White, Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, bought the UFC for 2 million. After the 2001 purchase of the UFC, it began to quickly grow in popularity due to advertising, corporate sponsor ship, pay per view, and video release.

The UFC’s president along with fighters all use current internet resources to sell the fights and the fighters. (Twitter and Facebook) They also have partner ships with clothing company’s to sell they’re products (TapOut, Affliction)
MARKETING CONTINUED The UFC often uses products like beer or movies to advertise fights. They also bring other pro- athletes turned MMA fighters to advertise The UFC. The UFC also has contracts with most of the best MMA fights in the world which makes for less competition with other promotion companies. Dana White also uses an effective strategy, where he advertises fighters by there countries of origin.
Personal Opinion On UFC Success The reasons I believe the UFC is so successful are as follows; Dominates the market due to money to buy the best fighters. Amazing Marketing – able to get name on other popular products. Has a product that people want. (an engaging sport)
UFC Key Demographic. The key is UFC’s popularity among young males, a desirable demographic for advertisers. According to Tony Ponturo, Anheuser-Busch vice president of global media and sports marketing, its research shows 76 percent of male beer drinkers between the ages of 21-27 are fans of the UFC
UFC VS Everyone Else UFC with out a doubt dominates MMA. Everyone is second to them, possibly one of the better known MMA promoters PRIDE was Bought out by the UFC. The UFC is so dominant because of how it markets. Zuffa (UFCs Parent company) has invested in a reality show, along with other televised programs which in turn shows the fighters as people, and people like when the fights are made personal.
