  2. INTRODUCTION • Current developments on IPO networking challenging same problem as IP: • enhanced service to be included from the beginning within the protocols, mechanisms and parameters used in optical networking • otherwise future needs won't be covered by current IPO developments. • Independently of the implementation, model, protocols, etc. • Current IP developments: • Traffic Engineering and Load Balancing • Protection - Restoration Services • QoS Networks (Integrated or Differentiated) • Privacy (Virtual Private Networks, Security) • Multicast Services

  3. Scope and Objective • Define value added services to be provided by the OTN • Focus non-PSC Optical Transport Network (G-MPLS Signaling) • Objectives (emergent model) • Protocol independent parameters • Model independent parameters • Integration of the needed ‘parameter extensions’ for policy-related services in a distributed approach

  4. Enhanced G-LSP Services • Protection - Restoration Services • Class of Priorities (CoP) • CoS Model • OTN Service Levels • Optical Multicast Services • VPoN Model

  5. OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC AS 6510 G-LSP ID scalable definition: Carrier ID + Identifier (Inter) or Node ID + Identifier (Intra) AS 9350 Example: G-LSP Identification AS 1580 IrDI-NNI IrDI-NNI IrDI-NNI AS 2540 IrDI-NNI

  6. Protection and Restoration Services (1) • Protection service: • Type: internal OTN - source and/or destination drop side • Level: 0:1 - 1:1 - M:N - 1+1 • Path state monitoring: inherent (default) - non-intrusive • Inherent for TDM: LoP and AIS • Inherent for Optical: LoL and LoS • Non-intrusive: Unequipped (default) - misconnection (J0,J1,J2 mismatch) - BER • Priority: related to the link selection • Strategy: revertive (default) or non-revertive

  7. Protection and Restoration Services (2) • Restoration (rerouting) service: • Group: identifies the group to which G-LSP belongs • Status: primary (0 to N) and backup (0 to M) - Client: P and B bit • Priority (recovery priority): associated to G-LSP group • Provisioning: provisioned or not-provisioned (+ max restoration time) • Strategy: revertive (default) or non-revertive

  8. CoS Model • Optical CoS: Best Effort - Bronze - Silver - Gold Services • Per VPoN CoS • CoS Content: • Protection - Restoration • (Class of) Priority - Preemption • Routing Diversity scope • Signaling Security • Signaling Delay • Default Behavior and Carrier specific CoS content supported

  9. CSPF Route [Node 1 [Node 2 [Node 3 [Dest 1; Dest 2]]; Node 4 [Node 5 [Dest 3; Dest 4]]]] OXC OXC OXC OXC OXC Dest 1 1:2 1:2 Dest 2 1:4 Node 2 Node 3 Source Dest 3 Node 1 1:2 1:2 Dest 4 Node 4 Node 5 Optical Multicast • Principle: based optical signal split (1:2) and unidirectional G.LSP • Directionality indicates FAN from source to destinations [1;M] • Optical Multicast concept used as ‘ Partial 1:1 Restoration (P - B bits)

  10. VPoN (Virtual Private optical Networks) Model • VPoN Identifiers • Client ID: CNE Group identifier • User-Group ID: VPN Identifier • VPoN models • based on Client ID and User-Group ID • based only on User-Group ID • VPoN associated features • Address space per VPoN • Isolation of Resources and Protection Groups • Inter and Intra-Group Preemption (depending on internal OTN policy) • G.LSP Disjointness per VPoN

  11. CONCLUSION • Integrate as early as possible enhanced services in the definition of parameters and their support in the OTN • Harmonize the definition and the specifications of the services at UNI and NNI (and corresponding parameters definition) • Include the Protection-Restoration Service, Optical Multicast Services, Class of Priorities (CoP), CoS Model, OTN Service Levels and VPoN Model within the CCAMP/IPO scope • Future improvements (protocol specification): • Optical multicast • Protection-Restoration support at the UNI and NNI • CoS - VPoN model • Objective: WG Document for Network Services in CCAMP WG
