  2. Definition of Prototype • A model of part of a system with reduced functions is developed that allows the user to be shown what the system could do before it is fully developed. • These are unsophisticated demonstration versions

  3. Definition of Prototype • Any changes to the system could then be made before the project had progressed too far. • This approach is used in the design phase • This is an approach used by designers to help them and their target audience experiences the suggested ideas and give feedback on possible alterations. • However, in other situations, the prototype can evolve into the final system. With this approach to design, the end user is more likely to get a greater say in the eventual system and hence more likely to accept it fully.

  4. Definition of Prototype • Software prototypes (unsophisticated demonstration versions) are developed to find out what users actually want from the software. • It is common for customers to not really know what they want until they see it working; and it's also common for great new ideas to spring from seeing a prototype version. • In certain situations, the prototype is discarded and the main system is developed using the main guidelines, principles and practices.
