The River Severn. By Phoebe. The Source. The source of the river is the very beginning of a river. It could be an underground spring or formed by rain water. The River Severn’s source is in the Cambrian Mountains in Wales. Tributaries. These are smaller rivers that flow into larger rivers.

  2. The Source • The source of the river is the very beginning of a river. It could be an underground spring or formed by rain water. • The River Severn’s source is in the Cambrian Mountains in Wales.

  3. Tributaries • These are smaller rivers that flow into larger rivers. • The River Severn has 21 of these small rivers.

  4. Meanders • A meander is a river bend. • Water flows slowly on the inside of a meander, where silt is deposited and quickly on the outside where erosion continues to occur.

  5. The Mouth • The mouth is the widest part of the river when the river meets the sea. • The mouth of the River Severn meets the Bristol Channel!
