  1. Imagination!

  2. Introduction We all have been created in the image of God who has given us a mind to imagine, think, and reason with. Little girls use their imagination to think about marrying Prince charming and boys about winning the Super Bowl or World Series. But our mental image is only a fantasy or wish, not reality and it is not likely to happen. In this lesson, we will study the negative uses of our imagination and the consequences of those choices.

  3. Danger of Imagination in Atheism John Lennon lyrics to the song “Imagine” “Imagine there's no heavenIt's easy if you tryNo hell below usAbove us only skyImagine all the peopleLiving for today... Imagine…no religion too. I hope someday you will join us and the world will live as one” (Labeled the #3 song of all time- Rolling Stone)

  4. Danger of Imagination in Atheism If a child is not taught the Bible, morality, discipline, and doesn’t worship; his thoughts are going to be worldly (Rom. 12:2). The school system will teach him the theory of evolution, and unless the parents are convicted he will likely think there is no God. What are the consequences if there is no God? When you deny the evidence of God’s creation, you become vain in your imaginations and corrupt in your life (Rom. 1:20ff).

  5. Danger of Imagination in Atheism The wicked in his pride does not seek after God because of all his thoughts are “there is no God” (Psalm 10:4). The Bible says, “The fool has said in his heart there is no God” (Psalm 14:1; 53:1). God will allow a person to reject the evidence that He is the Creator, but atheism will lead to a life of rebellion and eventually eternal separation from God (Romans 1:28-32).

  6. Danger of Imagination in Our Heart The Israelites were to worship God in Jerusalem on the feast days He appointed, and the priests were to come from the tribe of Levi (Deut. 12:13-14; 1 Kings 11:32-38; Lev. 23:34, 39ff; Numbers 18:6-7). But Jeroboam changed the place of worship (Dan & Bethel), the object of worship (golden calf), the days of the feasts (the 7th to the 8th month), and the priests from all the tribes instead of Levi {which he devised in his own heart} (1 Kings 12:25-33).

  7. Danger of Imagination in Our Heart Jesus said that it doesn’t matter where we worship, but we must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). Just as we cannot worship the god of our choice, we cannot worship at the church of our choice. Christ is the head of the church. (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 1:21-23; 4:4-6) Men have imagined that the Pope is the head of the church, babies are born in sin, faith only will save you, and that there is no hell. (Col. 3:17; Mt. 18:3; Js. 2:24; Mk. 9:43)

  8. Danger of Imagination in Our Heart We make our worship vain if we obey the doctrines of men rather than the commands of the Lord (Matthew 15:9ff; Luke 6:46). When men follow the evil imaginations of their heart, God will make sure that they will reap what they have sown. (Jeremiah 23:16-20; Galatians 6:7-8) We must be willing to repent and change our ways when our imaginations add to or take away from God’s word (Isaiah 55:7ff).

  9. Conclusion God saw that the imagination of men’s hearts were only evil continually and he punished them by sending the flood upon the earth while only 8 souls were saved in the ark. (Genesis 6:5; 1 Peter 3:20-21) The Lord is going to come like a thief and many are unprepared (2 Pet. 3:10; Matt. 7:13-14). Repent and be baptized while there is still time and opportunity to escape from the wrath to come! (Acts 2:38; 2 Corinthians 6:2)
