SOME OVERALL THOUGHTS -This programme emphasizes global issues of climate change, land degradation and biodiversity degradation, with links to rural livelihoods and to conflict situations, with studies at micro-level. -And generating ”strengthened ties between India and Norway”. Name of project: Education, Research and Training for Global Environmental Change and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in West Balkan (www.wb-globe.org) • Partners : Senter for internasjonalisering av høyere utdanning (SIU), Norway • Major focus of educational and research work of the project are; • Global environmental change • Natural resources • Interdisciplinary Conservation of Biodiversity and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources Capacity Building for Interdisciplinary Research and Applications

Name of the project :NOMA project on Master program in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development • Partners: Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Noragric UMB and Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal • Total Budget: NOK 5.9 million • Duration: 2008-2012 • Objectives: • To implement Masters in Education programme that promotes environment education and sustainable development in Nepal and Bangladesh • To promote cultural values, indigenous knowledge and best practices that are conducive to the sustainable management of the environment Conservation of Biodiversity and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources Capacity Building for Interdisciplinary Research and Applications

To contribute towards developing positve attitude and values as well as promoting the notion of environment good governance • To conduct staff and student exchange for the purpose of capacity building and knowledge sharing in teacher education with a focus on environmental change & sustainable development. • To enhance the capacity of KU and University of Dhaka to manage the teacher education programme in the area of environment and sustainable development, and • To develop a strong network among national and regional teacher education institution that have focus on envrionmental change and sustainable development and share knowledge and best practices.
