  2. Resume (CV) • Is a written advertisement about your selling points, and it is a composite of all educational , judgment, and experience. • It is oriented around specific skills.

  3. Type of resume 1- Chronological resume • Used when an individual with education and working history is continuous and can be concisely stated in reverseorder. 2- Functional resume • Used by career changers, who wish to demonstrate their ability to make an effective transition on the work place.

  4. Guidelines for writing resume • Be brief, yet concise. • Make certain that the resume is pleasing to the eye. • Be totally honest. • Used the chronological resume (more popular with employers ) because this type of resume is easier to read and shows a pattern.

  5. Guidelines for writing resume • Refer to attached materials. • Ensure that the resume and letters are error-free (no typographical or grammatical errors). • The letters and resume should be on good quality paper. Color of paper should be white.

  6. On the chronological resume, include a heading which contains: 1- Name, address, and telephone number • If you have more than one telephone (Example: a day phone number and a night phone number), indicate in the same heading. • If you have temporary address, includes a permanent address or an address where you can be contacted.

  7. 2-Next, you can include a (job objectives). • It helps to communicate to your prospective employer the level of skills you have achieved, so that the position and salary offered are equal to your skills.

  8. 3-List your (education) beyond high school in reverse chronological order (most current first). • For people anticipating their bachelor degree in science of nursing in June 2014, indicate it in your resume. • Education includes the formal classroom training you received to become a nurse. • The fact that you are licensed to practice and can use the initial RN, guarantees an employer a maximum level of expected competence.

  9. 4-Next, list your (work experience), which is total amount of time you have performed. • set full month of employment (such as one year and three months). • Written in reverse chronological order (most current first). • Give dates of employment, name and location of the employer. • Give your most recent title first, followed by the dates you held that title. • If you held more than one title with the same employer, give the most recent title first, followed by the dates you held that title. • As you go back through your experience, give the additional titles and dates following the reverse order mentioned above.

Give your experience by starting with an overall responsibility statement (mention briefly your significant accomplishment). • Use action verbs. • Give the most attention to the most recent experience. • Write in brief statements rather than in sentence form . • Omit any personal pronouns. • Be concrete in giving information. • Avoid using (soft terms) as (a lot of, some) • Volunteer activities and community involvement may also be included under (work experience).

  11. 5- Judgment: represent the level of decision making. • It is the amount of resourcefulness and ingenuity which the nurse applicant is capable of exercising based on previous education and experience. 6- Next, list any (honors) that you have received (Ex. scholarship awards, honor society membership). • If you have no honor to list, omit this heading.

  12. 7- Next, list your (professional membership). (ex. nursing association). • If you hold an office in the organizations, indicate the office held and dates of holding such office. • If you don’t belong to a professional organization, omit this heading. 8- Next list your publications (Using American Psychological Association). • If you have no publications, omit this heading.

  13. 9- Next, list your (continuous education/professional activates) in reverse chronological order. • If you have no such activities, omit this heading. 10- Last, indicate that references are available upon request. • Don’t list references in your resume without permission. • Make certain you have permission of all persons on your reference list to use their names. • Be sure of your references by checking with each person first.

  14. Resume should not include 1- Don’t include personal information on your resume (such information may screen you out before you even get a chance to interview). • Don’t mention your race, religious denomination or your political affiliation • Omit your age (potential employer can guess your age based on length of experience and dates of graduation. • Information, which is illegal to ask, would also be omitted from your resume.

  15. Resume should not include 2- Don’t include outside hobbies and interests on your resume. • this information may be shared with the interview if you do desire. • By doing so you may screen out without benefit of the interview.

  16. Note :- Maintain an uptodate resume .using computer to develop your resume is an idea, because of the ease with which changes and addition can be made on your resume over the time.
