The State of Health Care • At the National Level • 2005 health care spending in the US reached $2 trillion • Expected to reach $2.9 trillion by 2015 • 2005 16% of GDP was spent on health care • Expected to reach 20% in the next decade • US spends more on health care than any other industrialized national • including those that provide health insurance to all citizens

  3. Employer Health Insurance Costs • Most employers have experienced double digit increases for the past 6 years • Since 2000 • Employment based health insurance premiums have increased 87% • General inflation – 18% • Wage growth – 20%

How? • Participate in all 3 areas the Andrews University Wellness Program (Employee & Spouse) • Personal Wellness Profile Questionnaire (by April 18, 2008) • Heart Health Blood Screening (by April 16, 2008) • Agree to maintain/improve your health in 2008/2009 (complete & sign the on-line Wellness Commitment Form by April 18, 2008)

  13. Triple Option Plan Design • Premier Plan • $100 Deductible • 95% Coinsurance • $2,500 Out-of-Pocket Maximum • Standard Plan • $250 Deductible • 90% Coinsurance • $3,000 Out-of-Pocket Maximum • High Deductible Health Plan • $1,100 Deductible 80% Coinsurance • $2,500 Out-of-Pocket Maximum

QHDHP/HSAs • Employee must be enrolled in a QHDHP • Minimum deductible ($1,100 ind/$2,200 family) • All services must apply to annual deductible prior to insurance payments • Exception: preventive benefits - $25.00 co-pay • Maximum contribution for 2008 ($2,900/$5,800) • FSA participation is on a “post deductible” basis only • Left-over funds roll over from year to year • Can be interest bearing • Learn more at: www.treas.gov

Open Enrollment Checklist • Login into Andrews University benefits website • Review personal information • Verify contact information is correct • Verify emergency contacts are correct • Update beneficiary information • Verify dependent information is correct • Dates of Birth • Address • Coordination of benefits information • Go to the News & Library Sections and review necessary documents • Begin the enrollment process by clicking “Enroll Now” • Once enrollment is complete review your elections and email or print your confirmation statement • If you have any questions or concerns call Corporate Benefit Strategies, Inc. toll-free at 866-365-2413

  16. Open Enrollment Guidelines All Participant Benefit Elections will automatically rollover to 2008-2009 Plan Year, excluding the Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account Elections/Contributions Participant Changes must be made via Andrews University’s Internet Enrollment System

  17. Open Enrollment • Open from April 15th – May 15th • Assistance will be available on April 16th • Computer lab staffed with enrollment reps to assist associates in open enrollment • Open enrollment will close on May 15thNo changes will be allowed after May 15th

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) • Voluntary • Healthcare Reimbursement • $3,000 maximum • Daycare Reimbursement • $5,000 maximum • ASR Administered • MBR Debit Card • Determine your plan year contributions • FSA Contributions are payroll deducted • IRS requires a proof of expense • “Post Deductible” for HSA participants

FSA IRS Regulations • Participant Elections • No change until next open enrollment or change in status • “Use-it-or-lose-it” rule • Careful planning – review prior & expected expenses • Health care FSA – advance reimbursement • Dependent care FSA – no advance reimbursement • You must re-enroll every year

  21. Reminders • All participants have 30 days after a qualifying event to make changes to your enrollment status • Birth • Adoption • Marriage • Divorce • Change/loss of other coverage • etc. (see page #48-52 in SPD)

Reminders • A covered person must call the toll-free number on the front of your insurance card before/for the following services: • Hospital admission • Therapies • Physical, Occupational, Speech, Chemotherapy, & Radiation • Rental or purchase of Durable Medical Equipment • Home Health Care • Purchase of a custom-made orthotic or prosthetic • When in doubt – make the call!!!

Summary • Please remind associates to attend an upcoming town hall meeting • Health screening appointments can be scheduled on-line • Spouse participation is required in order to receive the employee contribution discount • Complete your Health Risk Assessment prior to coming to your Health Screening • Complete your wellness Commitment Form • Complete Open Enrollment on-line between April 15 – May 15
