  1. MANDALAS The Creation of radial design using silk screen painting techniques.

  2. Mandalas are defined as.. • "circle-circumference" or "completion", both derived from the Tibetan term dkyil khor) is a concentric diagram having spiritual and ritual significance in both Buddhism and Hinduism.[1][2] The term is of Hindu origin and appears in the Rig Veda as the name of the sections of the work, but is also used in other Indian religions, particularly Buddhism. In the Tibetan branch of Vajrayana Buddhism, mandalas have been developed into sandpainting. They are also a key part of anuttarayoga tantra meditation practices.

  3. More about Mandalas • In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the Universe from the human perspective.[citation needed]

  4. Cultural aspects • In Buddhism, mandalas can represent the Universe . • Judaism says, “There exists no circle in the world which is not made from within a single point which is located in the center…and this point, which is located in the center, receives all the light, illuminates the body, and all is enlightened • In Islam, sacred art is dominated by geometric shapes with segments of the circles. • Native Americans consider mandalas medicine wheels and the power to heal is in the radial design.

  8. Silk Screen Painting • Screen-printing first appeared in a recognizable form in China during the Song Dynasty (960–1279 CE).[4] Japan and other Asian countries adopted this method of printing and advanced the craft using it in conjunction with block printing and paints. • Screen-printing was introduced to Western Europe from Asia sometime in the late 1700s, but did not gain large acceptance or use in Europe until silk mesh was more available for trade from the east and a profitable outlet for the medium discovered.
