Exemptions for Emergency Vehicles Under Virginia Motor Vehicle Code 46.2

The Motor Vehicle Code Title 46.2 outlines exemptions granted to emergency vehicles specified in subsections A and B. These exemptions are applicable only when the vehicle operator displays a flashing, blinking, or alternating emergency light per §§ 46.2-1022 and 46.2-1023 and actively employs a siren, exhaust whistle, or air horn to signal their presence. Emergency vehicles must also slow down or yield the right-of-way when required, ensuring the safety of persons and property before proceeding through intersections.
