  2. Mrs. Sherryl Abramson • 4th, 5th, and 6thperiod- Physical/Earth Science • Email: Sabramso@fcusd.org • B.S. in Education with a major in Science (emphasis in Chemistry) • M.S. in Psychology • My 4th year at Folsom High • I have 2 children: 1 Senior @ FHS and 1 Sophomore in college

  3. Subject Matter • Earth Science- focus of class is geology, oceanography, meteorology, astronomy • Physical Science- is embedded throughout the Earth Science portion. • Common Core – Students will be engaging in more discussions and will be asked to provide evidence to support their stance on a topic.

  4. Classroom Format • Daily Starters • Daily Agenda and Weekly Agenda- on board and/or on Powerpoint • Students receive a syllabus for each Unit and it is posted on my website • Reading should be done prior to notes • Classroom activity- labs and/or worksheets • Homework- supplemental assignments

  5. Technology • Interject note-taking or discussions with video clips or interactive websites • Any links I like I will share w/class and post on my website

  6. How to keep informed • Syllabus is on my website • Course Expectations on the website • Main form of communication between teacher and parents—Email • Grades are updated at least one a week • Students responsibility when absent • Check Absent folder • Write absent at the top of work • Turn in work without being reminded

  7. Grading • Points-based system- see course expectations for grading scale specifics • Several ways to earn points (great for different learning styles!) • Vocabulary • Study Guides/Worksheets • Lab Activities • Daily Starters • Tests • Projects

  9. How class is structured • Daily Starters • Notes/Activites • Homework • Clean up Class Miscellaneous -- Water in the classroom -- May use restroom at appropriate times -- Must Sign in and out

  10. Wish List • Stick notes on the back cabinet -- 3x5 index cards -- Flour -- Corn Syrup -- Tissues -- Copy Paper -- Pencils -- Paper Towels -- Clorox Wipes -- Gift Cards to Sam’s Club, Target, Wal-Mart, Safeway, Etc (for lab consumables.)
