Unit 1: Memories (the past) • There are various ways to express the past: • I played football after dinner yesterday. • David’s life changed after he met John Lennon. • Nero didn’t try to help the people as Rome burned. • I used to love hot dogs when I was a kid. Now, I hate them. • I never used to smoke, but now I smoke three packs a day!

  7. Conversation • Listen to the conversation. • Make notes about: • Who the people are. • What is the situation (where are they?) • What are they talking about? • What are some of the memories they talk about? • What is the problem at the end?

  8. Conversation (p.4) • With a partner: • Continue the conversation between Sally and Akiko. • Try to use past-tense. • Write the next 5 – 8 lines of dialog.
