Trompe L’oeil dates back to 400 BC and was part of the culture of the Greek & Roman empires.
Trompe L’oeil is artwork that attempts to be so realistic that the viewer is fooled into thinking that actual 3-Dimensional objects are being displayed, rather than a 2-Dimensional representation of those objects.
