Middle Tennessee State University CIEE Faculty development grants Transform your classroom, your institution, yourself CIEE International Faculty Development Seminars are in-depth encounters with the people, places, and issues that shape our world. Expect one to two intensive weeks of lectures by local faculty and experts from prestigious institutions, site visits that illuminate ideas explored in those lectures, and opportunities to contribute to lively discussions with international colleagues. Interdisciplinary by design, all CIEE faculty seminars examine contemporary issues, globalization, and local perspectives.

  10. MTSU-Education Abroad In 2002-2003, the “MT Abroad” Office opened. In the summer of 2008, the “MT Abroad” Office (now Office of Education Abroad) experienced a complete turnover in full-time staff. The change in participation in study abroad between 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 reflects a 14% increase and a 32% increase when non-academic program participants are included. Additionally, when non-academic participants are included for 11-12 the increase from 09-10 is 73.8%.[1] 2001-02 to 2002-03: +263% 2006-07 to 2007-08: -22% 2002-03 to 2003-04: +50% 2007-08 to 2008-09: +19% 2003-04 to 2004-05: +24% 2008-09 to 2009-10: -11% 2004-05 to 2005-06: -13% 2009-10 to 2010-11: +31% 2005-06 to 2006-07: +18% 2010-11 to 2011-12: +14% ___________________________________________________________ [1] It is essential to note that while there has been a measurable increase, prior precise criteria and methods of record keeping are unknown.

MTSU Education Abroad Fast Facts 2011-2012 Study Abroad Participants: 339 2011-2012 Non-Academic Program Participants: 54 TOTAL Students Participating in Education Abroad: 393 2011-2012 Undergraduate Study Abroad Participants: 321 Total Full-time Undergraduate Enrollment: 19,408 Percentage of MTSU Undergraduates Studying Abroad: 1.65%

  12. EA Fast Facts Continued Over the past two years, participation in Fall semester programs has increased over 200% while Summer participation increased 38%. Summer includes May term, as well as regular summer session terms. Winter refers to programs which occur during the December-January break between semesters.

  13. Who According to the latest Open Doors figures (2009-2010), U.S. students are most likely to participate in education abroad during their junior year (36%), followed by their senior year (21%), sophomore year (13%), and finally freshman year (4%).

  14. Where In comparison to national trends for the last year of available data (2009-2010), the top three host regions in education abroad were Europe (54%), The Americas (16%), and Asia (12%).

  15. Why Roughly half of MTSU Study Abroad participants were from only one of the seven colleges on campus (College of Liberal Arts).
