Puritans
The Puritans, rooted in a desire for religious purity, fled the Church of England, seeking a community free from what they saw as corruption. They believed that not reading the Bible was akin to worshiping Satan and had strict observances for the Sabbath, with no work permitted. Their congregations enforced gender separation, notably excluding women from decision-making meetings. While their rigid beliefs towards worship and communal life defined them, they also laid the foundation for family structures in New England that would see generations thrive.
