  1. PowerPoint 101 CITY COLLEGE LIBRARIES CREATING POWERPOINT TUTORIALS FOR BI

  2. Launching PowerPoint • Go to the start menu • Select programs • Select Microsoft office • Select PowerPoint

  3. After opening PowerPoint you will be looking at a blank slide. Below two boxes are provided for text.On the left is a mini version of your slide.

  4. Choose a Slide Design

  5. Choose a Slide Design Select “Apply to all slides”

  6. Use the pull down menu to the right to select a color scheme http://www.ccny.cuny.edu

  7. Choose a layout for your slides Choose a layout for your slides

  8. Add a title to your slides • Double click the picture icon in the next box to add a picture from the clip art file or from your own picture file • Double click the clip art picture to add to your slide.

  9. You can also capture a screen. Locate the screen that you want to capture. Press “Print Screen” on your keyboard. Go back to the PowerPoint slide that you are creating and paste.

  10. This is the captured picture. You can reduce the size if needed.

  11. Add Animation From the “Slide Show” menu above, select “Custom Animation”.

  12. Add Animation Highlight the text box on your slide From the “Custom Animation” menu on the right select “Add effect”, “Entrance”, and “Circle”.

  13. Add Animation With your text box highlighted, select “Start after previous” in the pull-down menu.

  14. Add Animation Play your animation

  15. Other features You can add slide transitions

  16. Finishing • Press F5 on your keyboard to view all slides as a slide show. • Save your work as a PowerPoint show.
