  2. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For, so swiftly it flew, the sight Could not follow it in its flight. I breathed a song into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; For who has sight so keen and strong, That it can follow the flight of song? Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke; And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend. Henrys life • Henry was born in Portland main February 27th 1807 with 8 children he was the second oldest. • All of them were creative but when he was 5 him and his brother went to the Portland academy and worked on literature • He thought life was not about school work but having fun also. he went swimming , flied kites, and just played just like all the other kids. • Through his years he studied languages in Europe , and taught a college then he moved to Massachusetts married fanny Appleton and wrote some good poems • By 1850’s he was a national literary figure

This makes me think of an arrow in the air Imagery –things in a poem that make you see it in your head.
