  2. Challenge • Your challenge for this unit is to figure out what orca whales have in common with each other and where they fit in on the tree of life • You will use fossils and DNA sequences to understand connections to each species, and understand how to interpret a phylogenetic tree

  3. Guidelines • Two teams: Team Past and Team Present • You will begin by learning background information as a class, THEN: • Each team will look at different evidence • Final product is a collaborative poster with 2 members from Team Past and two members from Team Present for each presentation

  4. Team Past • Fossil clues • Skeletons • Historical evidence

  5. Team Present • Pictures of modern orcas • DNA evidence • Habits and habitats
