  1. ATICStudent Success in Entrepreneurship Training (ASSET) Presenters: Justin Finnerty, Director Career Preparation Center ****** Jane Laux, Program Coordinator Advanced Technology Innovation Center

  2. ASSET ATIC, along with the Career Preparation Center, has developed a program that focuses on the placement of qualified students in an industrial environment. The program, entitled ATIC Student Success in Entrepreneurship Training (ASSET), helps students connect with industry, promotes the pursuit of the student’s entrepreneurial goals. It helps introduce industry to a greater portion of the talented student population on the Polytechnic campus.

  3. Program Mission This program is designed to provide undergraduate and graduate students an industrial entrepreneurship experience that: • provides the student direct exposure to real world professional activities, • enhances their personal and professional skills, and • increases the likelihood of professional employment opportunities.

  4. In addition, students gain experience in: • resume development • how to prepare for and conduct themselves in a professional interview by company representatives, and • are better prepared to enter the workforce.

Benefits for Companies/Businesses Company/Business gains bright, energetic students who can apply their latest education and skills Confidence knowing selection is from a pool of highly qualified students Interviews are scheduled and all hiring documentation and payroll management handled by ASSET Helps with the industry headcount – protects the student

Benefits for Students Real world industry experience Direct exposure to professional activity Learning experiences that will enrich overall educational preparation Practice in resume development and the interviewing process Enhancement of personal and professional skills Networking with businesses related to field of study

  7. Things to Know • This is NOT an internship. • Students need to work with the CPC and their respective department to arrange for internship credit. • Internship affiliation agreement has to be signed before internship can be approved. • Student must be enrolled for at least 1 credit hour at ASU to be eligible. • Need to plan and allow time to process hiring paperwork – usually 3 weeks prior to start date.

Getting Started Search for opportunities, network with employers, be proactive Student contact Jane to fill out application form Employer contact Jane to have necessary documentation sent out and signed Student needs to go to Career Preparation Center to meet with Justin and fill out hire forms and obtain information on the required process for recording working hours
