  9. General Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel Known as “Desert Fox.”

  10. Okinawa April 1- June 21 1945. Known as Operation Iceberg. It was fought on the island of Ryukyu. The Japanese lost over 100,000 men. Americans lost from 12,000 to 50,00 men. Battle lasted a few weeks.

  11. The Battle of El Alamien was fought in the deserts in Northern Africa. The battle was fought with 2 generals, Rommel and Patton. Montgomery was the British commander that Patton was trying desperately to beat him in a race to take most of Africa and Europe. Patton :American: Rommel :German:

  12. General George S. Patton In charge of the 2nd Armored Division. His own soldiers hated him because he was way to strict. Patton would beat his soldiers and whip them too. He would send injured soldiers not home, but right back into the fighting grounds. Patton was friends with general Bradley but didn’t listen to him during most of the African campaign. Later he started listening to Bradley and won more battles over in Africa. Later in Europe he had a dog that he got as a gift. He would take that dog into convoys that led into battles.
