Our program offers comprehensive support for agencies in Los Angeles County to enhance CalFresh outreach and application processes. We provide resources such as a list of local DPSS offices, training on CalFresh applications, and access to bilingual brochures. Our tiered training includes prescreening households, advocacy skills, and assisting with the complete application process. Additionally, we connect agencies with trained Outreach Workers who help community members navigate the application, ensuring efficient document handling and submission to DPSS offices.

  1. What we can provide • Provide you with a list of Los Angeles County DPSS offices. • Train you on the CalFreshApplication. • Help connect your agency with a LARFB CalFresh Outreach Worker. • Provide bi-lingual brochures and applications.

  2. CalFresh Tool Kit Medium Level CalFresh: • Train you to prescreen households for CalFresh. • Start the clock on the application process. Low level CalFresh: • Train you to be a CalFresh advocate. • Be able to talk about the program and tell people how to apply.

  3. CalFresh Tool Kit High Level CalFresh: • Train you to become your agency’s application assistor. • Complete the entire application process from prescreening to delivering an application to a DPSS office.

  4. LARFB CalFresh Outreach Model • Local Agency in Los Angeles County hosts a LARFB CalFresh Outreach Worker. • The Outreach Worker pre-screens and assists community members with the paper CalFresh application or YBN online application. • Outreach Worker scans necessary documents required for the application if the applicant has them at that time. • Outreach Worker delivers application to the LARFB office for processing. • Outreach Worker takes application to proper DPSS Office.
