  37. "JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING" IV. Joy Comes When We See the Fruit of Our Labor in the Gospel A. Our Labor Includes Troubles & Tears • 2 Cor. 11:23-33

  38. 2 Cor. 11:23-33 23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. 24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. 25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

  39. 2 Cor. 11:23-33 26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

  40. 2 Cor. 11:23-33 27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. 28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches. 29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

  41. 2 Cor. 11:23-33 30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities. 31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not. 32 In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me: 33 And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.

John’s Morning of Joy: Faithful Saints • 3 Jn. 3-4 3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

  44. "JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING" V. Joy Comes When We Go to be with Jesus A. “Gain,” “Far Better” to be with Jesus: A Morning of Joy • Phil. 1:21-24

  45. Phil 1:21-24 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. 23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: 24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

  46. "JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING" V. Joy Comes When We Go to be with Jesus B. Long to be “Present with the Lord:” A Morning of Joy • 2 Cor. 5:6-9

  47. 2 Cor. 5:6-9 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

  48. "JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING" V. Joy Comes When We Go to be with Jesus C. United with Souls Who Are With Jesus: A Morning of Joy • 2 Sam. 12:20-23

  49. 2 Sam. 12:20-23 22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? 23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
