  2. Where Are Five Areas Of Chaparral Located? • Cape of Good Hope • Southwestern OR South to Baja, CA • Southwestern Australia • Central Chile • Around the Mediterranean Sea

  3. What is the Climate like in Chaparral Biomes? • Varies greatly throughout the year • Temperatures range from above 100 degrees, to well below freezing • In Barstow, for example, “Rainy” season begins in November, ends in February

  4. What Is The Land Like? • Soils in the Chaparral are very poor • Caused by deforestation and overgrazing • After erosion, ground is bare rock or clay • Chaparral take over before any other plants take hold

  5. What Is The Plant Life Like? • Must be well adapted to varying temperatures • Tolerant of drought • Tolerant of wildfire

  6. Examples Of Plants In Chaparral Biomes Chamiso Redshank, California Sagebrush, Califormia Rosemary, Europe

What Animals Live In The Chaparral? • Animal life is abundant • The five locations of Chaparral around the world have different wildlife • California: Ground Birds, Coyotes, Rabbits, Eagles, Mountain Lions, Rattlesnakes • South Africa: Grysbok Antelope, Zebras, Leopards • Spain: Lynx, Wild Boars, Red Deer • Mediterranean: Wild Sheep, Wild Goats
