Comments on the Final Project • Marathon Weekend Concert • Each student: • Designs and makes a musical instrument or a set of instruments • Composes a piece for your instrument • This must include notation of all parts • Writes documentation of the project • Performs your piece in the Marathon Concert
Comments on the Final Project • OPTIONAL things you can do: • Form a group with 1 or 2 other students who will perform your piece in the Marathon Concert • Of course, you will perform their pieces too, so total pieces for your group = number of students in group • Don’t make the groups too big because it will be difficult to work with too many people • Use recorded sounds you sequenced using CoolEdit
Recording Tips • Try not to get a sound with noises from the TA and people around you talking • Make sure that you don’t get clipping
Recording Tips • Try not to make extra noises moving the microphone until you finish your sound Microphone Noise
LADIES ONLY, PLEASE • Please record a sample of the sound “jack” • Please make sure you get a sound without noises from the TA and people around you talking • Please make sure that you don’t get clipping • Keep it 44,100 sampling rate, 16-bit, mono (please don’t make it smaller) • Name the file: cak_ female_your_full_name_2.wav • Email the file to layers@cs.ust.hk • I will add it to the piece
Composition • Add pitch to your composition • You can drag notes up and down in Noteworthy Composer • You can also change the pitches in your CoolEdit Sequence • Add your recorded pitched sounds to your composition • Flutes • Trumpets • Any other recorded sounds you made
