  1. FridayNovember 20, 2009 Agenda Finalized Rosters/Attendance Club Dues Get Snacks Where is your 1st period? New Officers/Duty Information Viewing: Young Frankenstein

  2. Finalized Rosters • We have 21 members • The following have not given me their paperwork: • Casey Foreman • Sean Walker

  3. Club Dues • Film Club Dues are due today! • If you are unable to pay, see me after the Viewing today to make special arrangements. • You can pay in installments ($3/month) or at once ($25/year) • This helps us with snacks, drinks, and movie rentals. It does not go to waste!

  4. Snacks for Today… • Snacks are by the table… • Pepsi and Mountain Dew are in the fridge!

  5. 1st period location? • Pass out note cards! • Write down NAME, STUDENT NUMBER, and 1ST PERIOD LOCATION/TEACHER

  6. Officer Elections • Congratulations to the following: • Donna Phillips: Secretary • Kristeena Farmer/Chelsea Bencivenga: Co-Treasurers • Jasmine Smith: Vice-President

  7. Secretary • Responsibilities: keeps records up-to-date, including but not limited to by-laws, minutes, and club rosters. The secretary also writes thank you notes to speakers and performers who contribute to film club.

  8. Treasurer(s) • Responsibilities: collects dues; gives receipts of any and all transactions; keeps accurate reports of income/expenses of the club.

  9. Vice-President • Responsibilities: serves in absence of the President; helps the President to coordinate fundraisers/monthly film viewings.

  10. Format For Viewings • October/November: Mr. Hampton selects films to watch • December/January: Film Club Members vote on what film to watch. • February-May: Each officer will be given a month…they will pick a film be responsible for explaining and showing that film. • Treasurers = February • Secretary = March • Vice President = April • President = May

  11. Guidelines for Selecting a Film • Must be G, PG, or PG-13 (with special permission) • You must make a PowerPoint/presentation of some sort that has a pre-viewing and a post-viewing discussion—in other words, why do you like the film or find it important? • Mr. Hampton will model for the first few viewings.

  12. 11/20 Viewing • Young Frankenstein • 1974 • Starring Gene Wilder (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) and Peter Boyle (Everybody Loves Raymond). Cameo by Gene Hackman

  13. 11/20 Viewing • Why I chose YF… • One of my favorite comedy films • My mother and I used to watch it and laugh a lot; my father never understood the humor.

  14. 11/20 Viewing • Why I chose YF… • Literarily, it’s a spoof on the whole Frankenstein story, with a few comic twists: • Frankenstein pronounced Frahnk-en-steen • Igor pronounced Eye-Gore…also, his hump moves from one side to another. • “Frau Blucher’s” name makes the horses whine; “blucher” is German for “glue,” which is made from horses’ hooves.

  15. 11/20 Viewing • Why I chose YF… • Movie-wise, it’s filmed entirely in 1930’s style black and white • Iris out, fade to black transitions

  16. 11/20 Viewing • Movie Legacy… • Aerosmith song “Walk this Way” inspired by Eye-Gor’s “no…walk this way”

  17. I hope you enjoy Young Frankenstein
